Tote Bags for Photo Studios: Album Bags, Gifts and Merch
Share
The moment a client takes their photos home is the last part of your work they remember.
For photo studios and photographers, that handover is a real chance: a printed bag turns a box of prints or an album into something that feels finished. In this guide I show which of our bags photo studios use for albums, prints, client gifts and workshops, what they cost and how to order them.
I also explain when a full colour photo print on the bag makes sense, and when a simple one-colour logo looks better.

Why do photo studios use printed bags?
A photographer sells an experience as much as a set of images. The session, the editing and the waiting all build up to one moment: the client opening their photos.
If that moment happens with a plastic carrier or a plain envelope, it feels smaller than the work behind it. A good cotton bag with your studio's mark makes it feel like a gift.
There is a practical side too. Albums, framed prints and boxes are heavy and have sharp corners, and they need something sturdy to travel home in.
And the bag keeps working after the handover. A client who reuses your canvas tote for shopping or the beach carries your logo to places your Instagram never reaches.
In short: a printed bag protects the photos, makes the handover feel special and keeps your studio in sight for years.
Who orders them
The photo studios and photographers who ask us about bags are usually one of these:
- Wedding photographers who deliver an album and a box of prints after the big day.
- Family and newborn studios that hand over framed prints and small albums.
- Portrait and headshot studios that give clients a pouch with prints or a USB stick.
- Photography schools and workshop leaders who give each participant a bag for the day.
- Photo labs and print shops that sell their own merch next to the counter.
Which bag works best for album and print delivery?
For albums, I recommend a stiff canvas bag with a wide bottom, so the album stands upright and does not bend.
Our Natural Organic Canvas Marina Tote is 34 × 34 × 17 cm and made of 340 g/m² organic canvas. The 17 cm gusset gives a square album room to stand, and the heavy canvas keeps its shape on the way home.
It has long webbing handles that go over the shoulder and a small wooden toggle that closes the top. That toggle matters more than you think: the album stays inside when the client puts the bag on the back seat.
Measure your albums before you order. A 30 × 30 cm album fits well, but very thick or larger albums need a check against the measurements on the product page.
34 × 34 × 17 cm, deep gusset, shoulder handles and a wooden toggle closure.
Natural or a darker colour?
For most studios I suggest natural canvas with a black or dark grey logo. It looks calm and fits the soft, light style of most wedding and family photography.
If your studio brand is dark and moody, the Marina tote also comes in black and French navy, with a white or light print. You can see more about how a tone-on-tone print looks in our post on light prints on light bags.
Gift bags for wedding and family clients
Not every handover needs a big tote. For a small album, a framed print or a USB box, a soft gift bag with a ribbon feels more like a present.
Our Soft White Cotton Gift Bag with Black Ribbon in size M is 36 × 44 cm, made of soft 140 g/m² cotton with a black satin ribbon as the drawstring. It closes with a gathered top, like a wrapped gift.
It is a flat bag without a gusset, so it suits flat items: a slim album, a print box or a framed portrait. For a thick album, the Marina tote above is the safer choice.
36 × 44 cm, soft 140 g/m² cotton, black satin ribbon drawstring.
The gift bag also comes in sizes S and L, and with a rose gold or light grey ribbon (light grey in M and L only). The minimum for these gift bags is 50 pieces.
Wedding photographers
For a wedding photographer, the album is often delivered weeks after the wedding, when the couple is already back in normal life. A gift bag with your mark brings back the feeling of the day.
If you also help couples with welcome bags for their guests, our guide for wedding and event planners shows which bags couples order for the guests themselves.
Family and newborn studios
Parents keep everything from the first months. A soft gift bag with a small print often stays in the baby's room long after the photos are framed.
For these studios, a light grey or rose gold ribbon can look softer than black.
Pouches for prints and USB sticks
Headshot and portrait studios often deliver a few prints and the digital files on a USB stick. A small zip pouch keeps everything together and looks far nicer than an envelope.
The Natural Organic Canvas Zip Pouch in size M is 22.5 × 16 cm, made of heavy 407 g/m² organic canvas with a cotton zip. Prints in 15 × 10 cm and a USB stick fit inside.
22.5 × 16 cm, heavy organic canvas with a cotton zip.
The pouch also comes in S (20 × 11.5 cm) and L (28 × 20 cm), and in black and French navy, though not every colour comes in every size. The minimum is 50 pieces.
Clients reuse these pouches for cables, make-up or pens, so your logo keeps showing up on desks and in handbags.
Bags for workshops and photo walks
If you run photography courses, photo walks or camera workshops, a bag for each participant makes the day feel organised. It also gives everyone a place for a notebook, a spare battery and a water bottle.
Here the price per bag matters more than for a client gift. Our Natural Cotton Tote Bag with Logo Print is 38 × 42 cm, made of light 140 g/m² cotton, and costs €7.47 at 25 pieces and €2.60 at 100 pieces with a one-colour print.
38 × 42 cm, light cotton, long handles.
The 140 g/m² cotton is thin and soft, so it is not for heavy albums. For a notebook, a lens cloth and a programme it is just right. If you want to compare fabric weights, our guide to cotton bag weights explains the difference.
A tip for courses that run every year
If you run the same course every year, order a little more than you need. Extra bags are useful for late sign-ups, and the jump from 25 to 50 bags is small: 25 cost €186.75 and 50 cost €207.00.
Can a photo studio sell its own bags?
Some studios and photo labs sell bags at the counter, next to frames and prints. A tote with one of your own photographs, or a simple graphic of your studio, can work well as a small product.
If you want to try this, start small. Our post on launching a limited-edition tote line with 25 pieces shows how to test a design without a big stock.
For merch, the heavier canvas bags sell better than thin ones, because people pay for a bag that feels good in the hand. Our tips on making cotton bags look exclusive are a good starting point.
How does the bag look when clients share their photos?
Many clients film or photograph the moment they open their album and share it with friends. Your bag is in those pictures, so it is worth thinking about how it looks on a phone screen.
A calm bag with a small logo looks good in almost any photo. A large, loud print takes attention away from the album, and that is the opposite of what you want.
For a studio logo on the Marina tote or the gift bag, I suggest a print about 8 to 12 cm wide. It is easy to see in a phone photo without shouting.
Choose a print colour that suits your photo style. Black or dark grey on natural looks timeless, and a soft grey print on white looks gentle for newborn work.
When should a photo studio order its bags?
Many wedding photographers deliver most of their albums in the quieter months after the wedding season. If you order your bags before that, they are ready when the first albums go out.
For workshops and courses, count back from the date. Production usually takes 10 to 15 working days after you approve the artwork, so about three weeks is a safe plan.
It also pays to order for the whole year at once instead of 10 bags at a time. Every new order has its own minimum, and the price per bag drops as the quantity goes up.
Keeping bags in stock
Bags take little space. A year of Marina totes or gift bags fits in a box or two on a studio shelf, ready for every handover.
Can you print a photograph on a tote bag?
Yes. With full colour DTF printing we can print a photograph on a cotton bag, and the price is shown on every product page.
DTF means the image is printed on a film and then pressed onto the fabric with heat. It shows fine detail and colour gradients that screen printing cannot.
Be honest with yourself about how it looks. A photo on cotton will never look like a print on photo paper: it is softer, a bit less sharp and follows the weave of the fabric.
For a studio brand, I often recommend a one-colour logo instead, and keeping the photographs for the album. If you want a photo on the bag, our post on full colour designs on cotton bags explains what works.
Prices for full colour
On the natural 140 g/m² tote, full colour costs €8.37 per bag at 25 pieces and €5.22 at 100 pieces. On the Marina canvas tote it is €13.00 at 25 pieces and €10.30 at 100 pieces.

How do you order bags for your studio?
- Choose the bag and quantity on the product page, and the number of print colours.
- Upload your logo, ideally as a vector file (PDF, SVG, EPS or AI). A good PNG works too.
- Approve the digital proof we send you, showing the size and position of the print.
- Receive your bags, usually 10 to 15 working days after you approve the artwork.
If you need the bags by a certain date, for example before the wedding season or a workshop, use the date box in the cart and tell us. We will say honestly if the date is possible.
Keep the bags in a dry place and out of the sun until you use them. If you want to pass on tips about storing the photos themselves, the Library of Congress has a clear page on caring for photographs.
One logo, several bags
Many studios order two bags with the same logo: a big one for albums and a small one for prints. That is two separate products, and each one has its own minimum.
Names of each client on the bags are not a standard option. Write to us first if you need them, and we will check what is possible.
FAQ
What is the minimum order?
It depends on the bag. The Marina tote and the natural cotton tote start at 25 pieces, the ribbon gift bags and the zip pouches at 50 pieces.
Will a 30 × 30 cm album fit?
In the Marina tote, yes: it is 34 × 34 cm with a 17 cm gusset. In the flat gift bag, a slim album fits, but measure a thick one first.
Can I print a photograph on the bag?
Yes, with full colour DTF printing. It looks softer than a photo print on paper, so a one-colour logo is often the better choice for a studio brand.
How long does it take?
Usually 10 to 15 working days after you approve the artwork. Tell us your date before you order if it is tight.
Is the cotton organic?
The Marina tote and the zip pouch are made of organic cotton. You can read what the GOTS standard covers on its own website.
Can I mix bag colours in one order?
Each colour is its own product, with its own minimum. Write to us before you order if you want to split a quantity.
Do you deliver outside the EU?
We deliver within the EU, and delivery is included in the price. Write to us before you order if your studio is outside the EU.
Can I see the print before production?
Yes. You get a digital proof with the size and position of your logo, and nothing is printed until you approve it.
